Kapamilya star, Xian Lim took to social media to express his sentiments on the current situation, including the coronavirus pandemic and ABS-CBN network shutdown. He also stepped up to defend his girlfriend, Kim Chiu after she became the target of mean trolls over her viral 'classroom' statement she made during 'Laban Kapamilya' Facebook live stream event.
Posting a plain black photo, Xian wrote: “We hit the 11K+ mark of positive cases in our country. People are STILL getting sick and dying all over the world. 5th of May, ABS-CBN went dark under the orders of the government. Now, I am not here to give my opinion on who I think is right or wrong. I do not have the educational background in this field or enough facts to support any claims but what I do have is my observation on what our society has become.
“Amidst the Pandemic, people are throwing hurtful words back and forth hoping that an issue will be resolved through insults, rage, hate, fake news etc.,” he added. “With all the second-hand information going around, it turned us all into critics and so-called experts. No need to say much about that.”
Xian commended the bravery of the artists who spoke their hearts out on the shutdown of ABS-CBN, which is also a second home for him.
“A few days ago, a couple of artists went live on social media and received numerous amount of hate. Let me say this, It takes a whole lot of guts to face millions of people and fight for what you truly believe in,” he said. “Most people won't even have that opportunity in their lifetime.”
Among the actors who joined the online protest to bring back, the Kapamilya network was Kim Chiu, his girlfriend, for whom he came to defend.
“Kim does not deserve to be singled out and get all the hate she is getting from people on the internet. She is a smart, empathetic person who deeply cares for all the people around her. She cares so much that it scares me,” he told.
“We are not perfect. No one is. We have our share of mishaps that shake us down to the ground but we learn and we rise back up again. My love and support goes out to Kim for being a wonderful human being,” Xian added.
Last Friday, May 8, Kim Chiu participated in the 'Laban Kapamilya' live stream campaign of ABS-CBN on Facebook where she made a statement about NTC on shutting down ABS-CBN's franchise and she discussed complying with the law and even gave a 'classroom set up' scenario. Her 'classroom' quote immediately went viral and the actress became trending on Twitter.
Kim eventually spoke up about the said quote on her social media account after finding out that she is trending. Kim wrote:
"Hahaha nagising ako na trending na pala ako! Okay po. Hahah natawa nalang ako sa sinabi kong about classroom. Nadala lang ng emosyon. Sensya na."
