When history meets memes. The hilarious #RP612Fic Independence Day hashtag is a very Filipino Twitter tradition.
#RP612fic, which stands for “Republic of the Philippines June 12 fiction,” has now been ingrained in Pinoy meme culture. Netizens come up with clever memes placing Filipino heroes and historical personalities in the present or putting a modern spin on historical narratives.
On the 122nd celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the Pinoy keyboard warriors took to social media to participate in what has now become a much-awaited annual Twitter tradition.
